How does a Transformer work and why is it used- 




Transformers work based on mutual induction. Now the question may be what is mutual induction. When electromagnetic force is generated due to change of current in one circuit to another and the two circuits are magnetically connected, this process is called mutual induction ". The secondary coil collects. The result is mutual induction between the primary and the secondary lock, and the current flows through the secondary. It has insulated steel or lacquered core.

We know that transformers have two windings, primary and secondary winding. A magnetic field is created when voltage is supplied to the primary winding. The magnetic flux goes through the iron core to the secondary winding. There, a magnetic field is created. As a result, voltage is found in the secondary coil. The amount of current flowing on the secondary side compared to the primary side will depend on the number of patches in the primary and secondary coils, called the transformation ratio. It is used: Transformers are commonly used for voltage up and down voltage. For example, suppose the voltage of the sub-station is 11 ky, but at the consumer level, the requirement is 400/220 volts. Then we use a transformer to step down this 11kV voltage to 400/220 volts.
